International High School Essay Contest

Hosted by: Psi Pi Chapter

2024 TITLE: “What impact do you believe that Social Media is having On Mental Health and Why is it Important to Address this issue?”

ELIGIBILITY & RULES

The Contest is open to all college-bound, high school seniors who submit an essay application
through a Chapter of the Fraternity.

The essay must be original and neither previously published nor secured by copyright. The essay
must be between 700 and 750 words in length. The type-written, double-spaced essay may be submitted via postal service or email in Microsoft Word.

SUBMISSION PROCESS

All submissions will be reviewed by your local Chapter (determined by your high school/home
address).
Submission must be postmarked no later than October 31, 2024 to P.O. Box 2903 Clarksville, TN 37042.  Do not change or shorten
the Essay Topic.

RATING CRITERIA

All local Chapters will assemble a review panel to assess submitted essays based on the following
criteria. Essays may earn a maximum rating of 100 points:

1. Development of Topic/Thesis: (30 possible points)
2. Progression: (20 possible points)
3. Readability: (25 possible points)
4. Grammar: (15 possible points)
5. Spelling: (5 possible points)
6. Punctuation: (5 possible points)

Psi Pi Chapter was chartered November 12, 1975 with the assistance of E. Hyburnia Williams – Rho Psi 1954. Psi Pi chapter has serviced the Clarksville & Ft. Campbell community for 40 years.

— Adopt-A-Highway

is a part of Clarksville’s Clean Neighborhood initiative. Psi Pi Chapter participates to keep a 2 mile stretch of the 101st Airborne parkway clean.

Psi Psi honoring our founders and those individuals committed to social action and upliftment for African Americans.

03.

— NAACP Lifetime Membership

Psi Pi Chapter is a NAACP Silver Lifetime Member.  We participate with the local NAACP and NPHC for the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebration & fostering the education of our children.

provides exposure, encouragement and financial assistance to talented young people participating in the performing arts. Winners are awarded recognition and may be given college scholarships.

— Essay Contest

The E. Hyburnia Williams Scholarship Fund awards locally $1,500 in scholarships to winners of the National Essay Contest.

— Voter Registration

Chapters facilitate and participate in activities that uplift their communities through the power of the vote.

E. Hyburnia Williams Scholarship Fund (EHWSF) supports local college bound students thru the Fraternity’s Essay contest.  Please support us in this initiative!!
